Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical ICU position requiring prior travel experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in a high acuity, fast-paced Medical ICU at a Level II Trauma Center
  • Care for medically complex, critically ill patients including respiratory failure, cardiac arrest with TTM, multisystem organ failure, various shock states, CVA post TPA, COVID, ARDS, DKA, and ETOH withdrawal
  • Standard patient ratio is 2:1, which may increase to 4:1 for boarders awaiting inpatient transfer
  • 1 CNA per shift available to assist
  • Frequently performed procedures include bedside central and arterial line placement, chest tube placement, rapid sequence intubation, paracentesis, thoracentesis, and code blue response
  • Day shift schedule of 3x12 hours from 6:30 to 19:00
  • Weekend work required
  • Floating required, including potential float down to telemetry units and to sister facilities as needed
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS, plus 2 hours of stroke-specific education annually
  • Minimum 2 years of recent MICU experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
  • Level II Trauma Center experience required; teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Experience with IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central and PICC line care, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and continuous IV sedation
  • Experience with CVA/acute stroke management, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, cardiac and vasoactive drip titration, and IV insulin protocols
  • Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and multisystem organ dysfunction care experience required
  • Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to high acuity MICU patients requiring advanced monitoring and intervention
  • Scrub color is flexible, though reddish-orange is not permitted
  • Facility-paid parking provided
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day)
  • Limited RTO accommodated; requests must be submitted upfront during the application process
  • Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower bill rate
  • Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they are not within 50 miles of the facility
  • Only one active submission to a Providence facility permitted at a time
