Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical ICU position at a Level II Trauma Center requiring prior travel experience and 2+ years of MICU experience.

Details

  • Work in a high-acuity Medical ICU within a Level II Trauma Center
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (6:30 AM to 7:00 PM)
  • Care for medically complex, critically ill patients including respiratory failure, cardiac arrest with TTM, multisystem organ failure, shock states, CVA post tPA, COVID, ARDS, DKA, and ETOH withdrawal
  • Standard patient ratio is 2:1, though it may increase to 4:1 for boarding patients awaiting transfer
  • One CNA per shift provides support
  • Frequently performed procedures include bedside central and arterial line placement, chest tube placement, rapid sequence intubation, and paracentesis/thoracentesis
  • Uses EPIC charting system
  • Weekend shifts required
  • Floating required, including potential float to telemetry units or sister facilities based on census

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
  • 2 hours of stroke-specific education required annually
  • Minimum 2 years of MICU experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
  • Trauma Level II experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • EPIC charting experience required

Additional Information

  • Deliver critical care nursing to a high-acuity, fast-paced MICU population
  • Any scrub color accepted except reddish orange
  • Parking is facility-paid
  • Must commit to working 3 of 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • RTO requests must be submitted upfront; limited flexibility for post-offer scheduling changes
  • Local candidates not accepted; must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility unless willing to accept local bill rate
  • Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside more than 50 miles from the facility
  • Two supervisory references required, covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years
