As a MedSurg/Telemetry RN at a leading acute-care hospital in High Point, NC, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic environment. This facility is a teaching hospital with a strong commitment to patient health and education.

Unit Information:

• Beds: 36
• Average Daily Census: 33

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

• General Med/Surg – CHF, COPD, kidney/liver/GI/respiratory issues, infections, wounds, CIWA, patients requiring CBI, etc.
• Post-operative patients - Bariatric, hips; trauma surgical, bucks traction

Patient Ratios:

• RN: 1:6
• LPN (if applicable): 1:6
• CNA: 1:9-12

Required Licensure & Certifications:

• BLS

Skills Required:

• General care of the medical/surgical patient – IV start/maintenance, foley start/maintenance, NG tube start/maintenance, chest tubes, wound care/dressing changes, wound vacs/drains, heparin drips, CBI

Support within the Department:

• CNA: Duties as assigned, within the scope of the CNA; General ADLs, vital signs, ambulation/mobility, assistance with feeding, blood sugars and other duties as assigned within the scope of the CNA.
• Charge nurse: Yes
• RT 24/7: Yes
• Hospitalist 24/7: Yes
• Intensivist 24/7: Yes

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: Encompass/EPIC
• IV Pump: Baxter (moving to Alaris in 2026)
• Med dispensing: Omnicell
• Monitors: Philips MX-40s

Orientation:

• NEO: Yes - facility
• 2 days departmental: Yes, unit
