Unit Information:

• Beds: 36
• Average Daily Census: 33
• Patient Ratios: RN: 1:6, LPN: 1:6, CNA: 1:9-12

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

• General Med/Surg – CHF, COPD, kidney/liver/GI/respiratory issues, infections, wounds, CIWA, patients requiring CBI.
• Post-operative patients - Bariatric, hips; trauma surgical, bucks traction.

Required Licensure & Certifications:

• BLS Certification

Skills Required:

• General care of the medical/surgical patient including IV start/maintenance, foley start/maintenance, NG tube start/maintenance, chest tubes, wound care/dressing changes, wound vacs/drains, heparin drips, CBI.

Support within the Department:

• CNA duties include general ADLs, vital signs, ambulation/mobility, assistance with feeding, and blood sugars.
• Charge nurse and phlebotomy support available.
• RT, Hospitalist, and Intensivist available 24/7.

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: Encompass/EPIC
• IV Pump: Baxter (moving to Alaris in 2026)
• Med dispensing: Omnicell
• Monitors: Philips MX-40s

Orientation:

• NEO: Yes - facility orientation
• 2 days departmental: Yes - unit orientation
