Job Summary
Medical Surgical Vascular Floor Registered Nurse position on the night shift, with 12-hour shifts supporting acute-care patients. The role provides nursing care for patients with conditions including congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cellulitis, alcohol withdrawal, kidney disorders, dementia, and cerebrovascular accident. The position includes telemetry monitoring, collaboration with interdisciplinary support teams, and floating across designated inpatient units as needed.
Job Details
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week; weekend coverage is required every other weekend, with holidays based on unit needs.
- Required Qualifications: Current Washington license or compact license; Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications; minimum of 2 years of experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information: Patient ratios are generally 5:1 and may increase to 6:1 during inpatient boarding. Responsibilities include telemetry monitoring and rhythm review, management of heparin, Cardizem, insulin outside of diabetic ketoacidosis protocols, and comfort medications, and care for patients requiring close observation through camera monitoring. Ventilator management is not required. Hospitalist or intensivist coverage, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, intravenous support, nurse aides, and charge nurse support are available. Scrub attire should follow professional colors, patterns, and styles.
