Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift contract requiring 2+ years of experience and telemetry skills.

Details

  • Work in a 34-bed medical surgical unit with telemetry capabilities
  • Patient ratios of 1:5-7
  • Night shift schedule of 4x12 or 3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30
  • Weekday and weekend coverage required, with 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule/period
  • Uses Cerner EMR for charting

Requirements

  • Active WV or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted for consideration)
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Med/Surg with telemetry experience required
  • Skills needed include respiratory care (BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, HFNC, ABG interpretation, oxygen administration, tracheostomy care), IV therapy (central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, blood product administration), cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Experience with pre/post cardiac cath and pre/post hemodialysis management preferred
  • Minimum 2 professional references from a manager or charge nurse within the past 2 years required

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care to a med/surg population requiring telemetry monitoring, including cardiac, renal, and respiratory management
  • Utilize rapid response/code teams as needed for emergent patient situations
  • Facility expects minimal call-offs, tolerating only 2-3 per contract due to attendance concerns
  • Orientation held every other Monday, with required non-billable Cerner training modules averaging 8 hours to be completed prior to start date
  • Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility, though those between 75-100 miles may be considered case-by-case at the same rate
  • Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from their last date of employment before returning as a traveler
  • Current employees of the Vandalia Health System (including CAMC Health Systems, Mon Health Systems, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for this travel contract
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Scrubs are not provided
