Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical telemetry or comparable acute-care Registered Nurse experience
• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in New York
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale certification or demonstrated competency
• Ability to read and interpret basic cardiac rhythm strips before starting the assignment
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with primary and team nursing staff

Med/Surg Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to acute stroke and complex telemetry patients in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
• Perform and document frequent neurological assessments, including NIH Stroke Scale evaluations
• Continuously monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Support compliance with stroke care protocols and core measures, including dysphagia screening, patient education, and individualized care planning
• Administer medications safely and accurately using barcode medication administration standards
• Coordinate care with providers, therapists, case management, and other interdisciplinary healthcare team members
• Manage admissions, discharges, transfers, and patient flow in a high-turnover medical-surgical unit
• Maintain a strong focus on fall prevention, skin integrity, infection prevention, and overall patient safety
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, responses to treatment, and changes in patient status
• Provide compassionate patient and family education throughout the care experience
