Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Peoria, Illinois.
Job Summary
Medical Surgical with Telemetry (MS TELE) Night Shifts in an acute care setting. This position involves providing specialized nursing care for patients with neurological conditions, including stroke, spine surgery, seizures, brain tumors, and head injuries. It requires experience on a dedicated neuro unit and with Level 1 trauma patients.

Position Description:
The role involves caring for patients in a 54-bed neuroscience unit with a focus on stroke, spine surgery, seizure management, brain tumors, and head injuries. Nurses will work a 12-hour night shift, with staffing ratios of 1:5-6 on nights, and assist with high-flow oxygen therapy and titratable drips such as Heparin GTT based on PTT. The unit operates with a dedicated charge nurse and house supervisor available 24/7, with nurse aides/patient care techs on duty. Orientation includes 2 days of unit-specific training plus patient care with a preceptor.
Required Qualifications:
BLS (AHA), NIHSS certifications; active Illinois license or proof of application; at least 1 year of relevant nursing experience; previous neuro unit experience; Level 1 trauma patient care experience; experience working with titratable drips and telemetry monitors; flexible with floating in rotation; able to read telemetry strips; working knowledge of Phillips telemetry monitors.
Schedule:
12-hour night shifts, with an expected minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 08/31/2026 and ending on 11/30/2026. Every other weekend and holiday work required.
