Job Summary
Registered Nurse Medical-Surgical With Telemetry. The role provides care for adult and geriatric patients requiring medical-surgical and telemetry-level services, including patients with chronic ventilator and respiratory support needs. The assignment includes night shifts, weekend rotation, holiday coverage as scheduled, and floating within the specialty to lower-acuity assignments as needed.
Job Details
- Schedule: Night shifts consisting of 12-hour shifts, scheduled as 3x12 or 4x12 from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications:
- Active Maryland or compact Registered Nurse license
- One year of experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience caring for medical-surgical and telemetry-level patients
- Experience with a patient ratio of up to 1:5
- Electronic medical record experience using Epic
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Previous charge experience
- Community hospital experience
- Long-term acute care hospital experience
- Float: Float rotation may be required.
- Additional Information:
- Patient population includes adults and geriatric patients.
- Average daily census is 22 patients.
- Care includes patients with chronic ventilators and respiratory support needs.
- Clinicians are expected to recognize changes in health status and provide care for ventilated patients.
- Clinical responsibilities may include telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia management, central line and peripheral line care, chest tube management, feeding tube care, tracheostomy care, wound care, blood product administration, and intravenous therapy.
- Every other weekend coverage is required.
- Holidays are required as scheduled.
- Pre-scheduled on-call coverage is not required.
- Respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, radiology, phlebotomy, interpretation services, rapid response teams, and unit secretary support are available.
