Job Summary:
Medical Surgical with Telemetry (MS TELE), located in the healthcare facility, is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to adult patients with various medical conditions. This role involves close monitoring of patients on electronic fetal monitoring systems, interpreting telemetry strips, and collaborating with the healthcare team to deliver high-quality patient care.
Job Details:
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS
- Education Requirements: RN license; at least 2 years of clinical experience in medical-surgical and telemetry nursing
- Location Requirements: Must be within a 50-mile radius of the healthcare facility, with no full-time, part-time, or PRN commitments at any facility associated with the organization within the past year
- Years of Experience: 0 years minimum required, with a preference for experience in reading telemetry strips, CVA, and TIA
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Orientation: One shift of unit-specific orientation
- Requirements: Must take and pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts, interpreting telemetry strips and signing off at least once per shift
- Clinical Responsibilities: Managing patients with diagnoses such as CHF, COVID-19, respiratory issues, GI conditions, diabetics, post-cath care, and total joint replacements; administering titratable drips set at a specific rate, including Diltiazem/Cardizem
- Additional Information: Float rotation may be required to east campus and possibly PCU if qualified; unit includes nurse aides with ratios of 1:10-15; charting done in Cerner system; scrubs in navy blue; one day of orientation on the unit; unit operates under trauma level acute care setting.
