Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical Surgical with Telemetry (MS TELE) is needed for a facility located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The position involves providing care to medical and surgical patients in a 20-bed unit with a Level 1 Trauma designation. This role offers an opportunity to work in a teaching hospital with access to advanced technology and a collaborative team environment.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Nights; 12-hour shifts; a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license; BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications; at least 2 years of MedSurg nursing experience; location in North Carolina.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Trachs, chest tubes, IV starts, wound care, dressing changes, wound vacs, drains, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and non-titrating drips such as Heparin, Lasix, and Protonix.
  • Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Transitional Care Unit patients, medical patients with CHF, COPD, kidney/liver/GI/respiratory issues, CIWA patients, infections, wounds, as well as some general surgeries and other service lines.
  • Patient Ratios: 1:5.
  • Support within the Department: One CNA for each unit section, charge nurse to cover both areas, bedside monitors with central monitor, 24/7 hospitalist, residents, RTs, and Phlebotomy staff.
  • Technology/Equipment: EMR system: EPIC; IV pumps: Alaris; Medication dispensing: Omnicell.
  • Floating: May float within scope of practice at the hospital.
  • Orientation: Two shifts of new employee orientation on the unit.
  • Other Notes: Scrub color is royal blue; parking is free; unit culture details are available.
