Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical Surgical with Telemetry (MS TELE) in Charlotte, North Carolina. The position involves providing high-quality patient care on a 36-bed unit with a focus on medical and telemetry nursing. The role requires handling diverse patient diagnoses, including sepsis, respiratory illnesses, and GI disorders, within a dynamic hospital environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: North Carolina RN license, BLS certification, ACLS certification, NIHSS certification, at least 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience; location: North Carolina.
- Skills required: General Medical-Surgical skillset emphasizing stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, Foley insertion/management), PCA pump management, medication infusion management including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IV fluids.
- Support within the Department: Variability in CNA ratios, availability of resource nurses, 24/7 support from hospitalist, intensivist, and telemetry experts, with no telemetry monitoring tech; nurses interpret monitors and respond accordingly.
- Technology/Equipment: EMR: EPIC, IV Pumps: Alaris, Medication dispensing: Omnicell, Monitors: Phillips.
- Floating: Floating to designated regions within scope of practice as needed, with pay for travel time if floating mid-shift. Regions include Charlotte and surrounding areas within specified zones.
- Orientation: 2 days of departmental orientation.
- Scheduling: Every other weekend rotation, no designated call, and work 75% of holidays.
- Other notes: Scrub color: Navy, Parking: Free.
