Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night-shift hospital position requiring at least one year of experience and GA or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit with remote telemetry monitoring capabilities
• Adult to geriatric patient population with diagnoses including diabetes, post-op recovery, wound vacs, and bariatric care
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6 on a 33-bed unit with average daily census of 28
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend required unless otherwise specified
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
• On-call required every other weekend, plus holidays as needed, including relief charge duties
• Uses Epic (required), Pyxis, and SBAR communication method

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Skills needed include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, peripheral line and PICC line care, chest tube management, ABG interpretation, wound/wound vac care, IV insulin protocols, PCA medication management, pre/post hemodialysis care, surgical drain management, and telemetry monitoring
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) are highly preferred

Additional Information

• Navy blue scrubs required
• Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care including wound care, IV therapy, respiratory support, and cardiac monitoring
• Utilize rapid response/code teams as needed
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, and all RTO must be finalized at time of submission with no requests permitted after offer or during orientation week
• Holiday coverage required for Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/Day, with limited holiday RTO consideration only when three major holidays fall within the assignment
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Previous Piedmont employees (perm, per diem, or FCSS) must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
• Travelers who were unable to return to a Piedmont facility must complete one successful assignment outside of Piedmont before being considered for a new Piedmont location
• Travel pairs cannot be scheduled on the same shift and unit
• Shift and schedule as listed are firm with no alternate schedule requests permitted
