Job Summary
Medical Surgical Floor Nurse in the MS (Medical Surgical) specialty is needed in a healthcare facility to provide care for trauma patients and acute surgical cases. The position involves working on a fast-paced adult surgical unit with a focus on rehabilitating and supporting patient needs, including trauma, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and various acute surgical diagnoses.

- Position Description:
This unit does have 2 negative pressure rooms that can serve our COVID population. This is a very busy unit where rehabilitating and supporting our patients needs is our highest priority. The most common diagnosis on the unit; Traumas including: spinal cord injuries (new quadriplegics and paraplegics), traumatic brain injuries, orthopedic injuries occurring as a result of a trauma. Acute Care Surgical diagnosis: hernia repair, small bowel obstructions, appendectomy, cholecystectomy. Travelers need to have experience on a fast pace medical surgical unit preferably with Level I Trauma center experience but several years at a Level II Trauma center is acceptable. - Certifications, Education & Experience:
Required Credentials: NH RN License or Compact License (Proof of State Residency Required), BLS.
Required Experience: Minimum of 1.5 years of recent equivalent experience including chest tubes, tubes, drips such as Diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, or amiodarone, lines/tubes/drains for post-surgical patients, trachs/laryngectomies, telemetry, complex wounds, central lines care and blood draws. - Schedule:
Night shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 48 hours per week. - Additional Information:
Must have experience with post-surgical care and monitoring for trauma patients, including line management, wound care, and advanced patient support.
