Medical Surgical Nurse (MS) in Wausau, Wisconsin. This position involves providing care in a fast-paced post-surgical unit that accommodates pre and post-surgical adults and geriatric patients. Job Details:
- Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
- Shift: Rotating 12-hour day/night shifts, with variable hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
- Schedule: 48 hours per week, with overtime billable after 48 hours worked in a week
- Start Date: 08/17/2026
- Unit: Post Surgical Care Unit, 40 beds, caring for pre and post-surgical adults and geriatric patients
- Patient Ratio: Day/PM 1:4-5, Night 1:5-7
- Patients per Day: 10-15 admissions, with an occupancy rate of 90-95% during the week
- Experience: Minimum of 2+ years Medical Surgical experience in a hospital setting, recent hospital experience required, trauma level II experience required, prior travel experience required
- Certifications: WI RN License and BLS from American Heart Association or ARC, must be attached upon submittal
- Charting System: Epic Electronic Medical Record system
- Unit Specific Skills: Post-surgical recovery care, ability to multi-task and prioritize based on acuity, teamwork-oriented
- Additional Details: Scrub color can be any color; GSA hours are not guaranteed during orientation; traveler guaranteed set hours per week (excluding holidays and flu season policies); must follow vaccination policies including mask-wearing if declining flu and COVID vaccines.
