Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift contract requiring at least 2 years of acute medicine experience and MO or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit in a Magnet-accredited, Level I Trauma teaching hospital
• Acute medicine population including diabetes, renal issues, COPD, abdominal rule outs, and non-chemo cancer patients
• Unit does not care for surgical patients
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Can sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within service line
• Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required (compact must match permanent residence)
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• MS/Tele experience preferred
• Level I Trauma and teaching hospital experience preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Skills in respiratory care (BiPAP/CPAP, oxygen therapy, suctioning), IV therapy, central/PICC line management, and cardiac monitoring preferred
• Experience with wound care and isolation precautions/PPE preferred
• Facial hair must allow for proper respirator fit testing or must be shaved

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to acute medical patients on a busy Med/Surg unit
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• RTO limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week
• All RTO must be finalized prior to submission; no additional RTO requests allowed after submission, offer, or start
• Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
• Standard travelers may work up to 18 months before requiring a 3-month break in service
• Contract length is firm and cannot be adjusted mid-assignment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Pending license accepted for consideration
