Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a neuro unit position requiring 2 years of experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Neuro Med/Surg unit within a hospital setting
• General medicine patient population with a focus on neurological diagnoses, including CVA and cardiac dysrhythmias
• Patient ratio of approximately 1:6
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours (18:45-07:15)
• 36 or 48 hour weekly schedule options available
• Weekend requirement of 5-6 shifts, equating to every other weekend
• Floating required, with travelers floating first
• Uses Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication systems
• May be assigned to Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
• Neuro and psychiatric care experience preferred
• Charge RN experience or willingness to learn the charge role preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start

• Provide patient care with a teamwork approach and strong focus on patient safety
• Manage isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• 24-hour unit orientation provided
• Navy blue scrubs required; not provided by facility
• Manager-based scheduling
• Must complete pre-start and annual online training modules using Chrome or Edge browser
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (PERM/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before reapplying, with facility approval required
• Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between travel or per diem status
• RTO up to 7 days may be auto-approved but not during the first week of assignment or on holidays
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Travel pairs allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate
