Job Summary
Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) West Union, IA. This position involves providing high-quality care on a Med/Surg unit within a Critical Access Hospital setting. The role requires independent work, leadership capacity, and experience in a rural hospital environment to support a patient census that includes skilled care, acute, observation, and daily surgical patients.

Job Details

• Position: Med/Surg RN - 12-hour Days, Critical Access Hospital, West Union, IA
• Certifications: IA RN license, AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS (required due to pediatric patient care)
• Education: Associate Degree or Certificate
• Experience: 2+ years in specialty area; previous Critical Access Hospital experience required
• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, days, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Candidates may rotate between day and night shifts every 1-2 weeks with flexibility for shift rotation, based on facility needs.
• Additional Qualifications: EPIC charting experience preferred. Ability to work independently in Medical-Surgical care, with charge nurse capacity as backup. Previous charge experience is strongly preferred. Capable of managing a patient ratio of up to 1:5, typically 1:3-4, with team-oriented and assertive skills.
• Unit Information: 25-bed hospital with Med/Surg (20 beds), OB (4 LDRP), and postpartum/c-section prep. Daily census averages 8-10 Med/Surg patients and 85-90 deliveries annually.
• Responsibilities: Provides direct patient care, assists with pediatric cases as needed, and collaborates with team members. The role may include float to other units as needed.
• Submission Requirements: Medical compliance must be initiated within 48 hours of accepted offer, or 24 hours for a quick start.
