Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring NM or compact RN license and at least 1 year of experience.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit in a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 18:30-7:00) with 36 or 48 hour options
• Works 6 weekend shifts within a 6 week period
• Floats to units of equal acuity as needed based on facility needs

Requirements

• Active RN license (NM or Compact) required, pending license accepted if obtained prior to start
• BLS certification required, CPI certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• 1:6 patient ratio experience required
• First time travelers accepted provided they have 24 months of nursing experience
• Skills needed include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, peripheral line care, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), high flow nasal cannula and oxygen administration, colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube care, CVA care, administration of heparin, insulin, and PCA medications, isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, and pre/post hemodialysis management
• Epic charting experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide medical surgical nursing care including wound care, IV therapy, respiratory support, and medication administration
• Brief unit orientation provided prior to floating assignments
• Must reside outside a 50 mile radius of the facility to be considered, locals not accepted
• Previous staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No travel pairs or groups accepted
• Maximum of 3-4 days RTO can be auto approved, with no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
