Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Night shift position requiring at least 1 year of recent experience and a NM or Compact RN license.

Details

  • Medical/Surgical unit in an acute care hospital setting
  • 32-bed unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Patient population includes med/surg, renal/genitourinary, and plastics/surgical cases
  • Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (18:30–07:00)
  • 36 or 48 hours per week available
  • 6 weekend shifts required within every 6-week period
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating to like units required as needed based on facility needs
  • Epic EMR — experience preferred
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active NM or Compact RN license required prior to start date (pending license accepted)
  • Current BLS certification required; CPI preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience required (first-time travelers must have at least 24 months of nursing experience)
  • Proficiency with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral line care, and PICC line management
  • Experience with respiratory support including HFNC, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
  • Experience with wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions/PPE, and medication administration including heparin, insulin, and PCA
  • Experience with colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, and pre/post hemodialysis management
  • 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided they have at least 24 months of total nursing experience
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position
  • Former permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler
  • Travelers will receive a brief orientation on any float unit prior to working there
  • No RTO during the first week of orientation; up to 3 days of RTO may be approved for the contract — all RTO requests must be submitted prior to consideration
