Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Urology/Nephrology unit requiring an active IL RN license and at least 2 years of medical/surgical experience.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit specializing in Urology/Nephrology within an acute care hospital
• 25-bed unit with an average daily census of 23 and a 1:6 patient ratio
• Night shift, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (1845-0715)
• Works every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required to other Medical Surgical units or nearby affiliate hospitals
• May work charge as needed
• Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required (in hand or in application process)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of medical/surgical nursing experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Experience in MS/Tele and Med/Surg settings required
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, remote telemetry, and rapid response teams required
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care required
• IV therapy/phlebotomy skills required, including blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting IVs
• Experience administering heparin required
• Respiratory care skills required, including chest tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and oxygen tank use
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Teaching hospital and Level I trauma experience preferred
• AHA or Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI certifications not accepted

• Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated acute care hospital with 562 staffed beds
• Any solid color scrubs permitted
• Parking permit required at no cost, arranged during orientation
• First-time travel RNs are welcome to apply if they have a solid medical/surgical nursing foundation
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
• Previous permanent or PRN employees of the hospital system must be separated for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• RTO of more than 5 non-holiday days requires facility approval
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Travel pairs are not accepted
• Floating is required for all travelers within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
