Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Appleton, WI

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130
• Location: Appleton, Wisconsin, with floating to nearby Neenah and other area locations as needed
• Assignment Length: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• End Date: January 16, 2027
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week, excluding specific orientation and facility-closure circumstances
• Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts, starting at approximately 5:30 p.m.
• Weekend Schedule: Up to every other weekend
• Holiday Schedule: Holiday rotation as needed
• Call Requirements: None
• Dress Code: Black scrubs

Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Wisconsin
• At least 3 years of RN experience, including at least 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required; at least one completed travel assignment strongly preferred
• American Heart Association BLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• American Heart Association ACLS certification preferred
• Recent Epic charting experience within the past year
• Associate degree or nursing certificate required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Ability to float comfortably among Medical-Surgical units and nearby locations
• Resilient, adaptable, collaborative, and comfortable managing changing staffing needs

Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care across a variety of Medical-Surgical units.
• Float between inpatient units in Appleton and Neenah, with occasional coverage at other nearby locations as needed.
• Care for patients within your verified clinical skill set, typically at a 1:5–6 nurse-to-patient ratio with LPN or CNA support based on acuity.
• Manage diverse patient populations and diagnoses, including general surgery, oncology, renal, CIWA, CHF, COPD, stroke, surgical trauma, orthopedics, DKA, and cardiac-related care.
• Support pre- and post-procedure care for cardiac catheterization, pacemaker procedures, and TR Band management when qualified.
• Monitor and care for patients with neurological conditions, including stroke, post-TNK care, and neurosurgical needs, within scope of practice.
• Document accurately and efficiently in Epic.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote quality outcomes, patient safety, and continuity of care.
• Adapt quickly to changing assignments and make up missed shifts within the designated timeframe when applicable.
