Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift hospital position requiring an active MI RN license and at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit caring for a mix of medical and surgical patients, including ortho/neurovascular, cardio/pulmonary, GI, urology, hysterectomy, and mastectomy cases
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• 36 or 48 hour work weeks available
• Every other weekend required
• Floats to other Med Surg units roughly once per week, with travelers floating first
• Staffing ratio of 1:5-6 for nights, which may flex to 1:7-8 with LPN support
• Works alongside a variety of staff including RNs, LPNs, and techs
• Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed or approved

Requirements

• Active Michigan RN license required
• BLS (AHA) required; pending certification may be accepted
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience required, 2 years preferred
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Proof of flu vaccination required with consideration, or exemption request submitted within 48 hours of signing
• Supervisor-level references required

Additional Information

• Must be available for the first 2 weeks of the assignment for orientation
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
• Candidates residing 50 miles or less from the facility qualify for the local rate
• Previous internal travelers may return after 6 months; previous permanent staff may return after 1 year
• RTO limited to no more than 10 days during the assignment
• Annual and orientation modules are self-reported and completed as 8 non-billable hours
• Opportunity to provide care alongside nursing students
• Skills in IV therapy, wound care, respiratory management, and cardiac monitoring are valued across unit specialties
