Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital requiring 2+ years of experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit in an acute care hospital setting
• Average daily census of 21 patients with a 1:7 patient ratio
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (6:30 PM-7:15 AM)
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
• Cerner charting system used

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required or in the application process with an ETA to apply
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience required
• BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI cards not accepted)
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, peripheral line care, and PICC line management required
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, heparin and PCA administration preferred
• Wound care/wound vac experience preferred
• Telemetry monitoring and rapid response/code team experience preferred
• SSN and date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility
• Provide direct patient care including IV therapy, line management, and isolation precautions for medical-surgical patients
• Scrub color requirement: any solid color
• Parking permit required at no cost, arranged during orientation
• RTO should ideally be 5 days or fewer
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
• Previous permanent or PRN employees of the hospital system must be separated for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• Travel pairs are not accepted at this facility
