Registered Nurse - Med Surg

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to fill a Med Surg position for a night shift schedule. The nurse will provide comprehensive patient care in a fast-paced environment, focusing on medical-surgical patients including those with pulmonary issues, infections, and oncology needs. This role requires the ability to manage high patient volumes and participate in interdisciplinary support services.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care with a focus on medical-surgical needs
• Float within the hospital as needed at the discretion of unit leaders
• Manage peripheral line care and oxygen administration
• Utilize rapid response and code teams as appropriate
• Conduct patient assessment and monitor vital signs
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment in accordance with isolation precautions and PPE protocols

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current NY State Nursing License
• Minimum of 2 years of acute hospital nursing experience
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
• Experience with electronic charting systems, specifically EPIC

Schedule

This position is for night shifts, comprising three 12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30. The nurse will engage in a patient ratio of 1:5 or 1:6 during their shifts.
