Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with a minimum of 2 years' experience and an active IL license for a 13-week assignment at a Level II Trauma acute care hospital.

Details

  • Medical Surgical unit in an acute care hospital setting
  • Average daily census of 35 with a 1:6-7 patient ratio
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (0600-1830)
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
  • Cerner EMR used for charting

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required or in application process with an ETA to apply
  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required
  • BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
  • Cerner charting experience required
  • Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills required, including remote telemetry monitoring and Rapid Response Team utilization
  • Gastrointestinal care skills required, including colostomy care and feeding tube management
  • Genitourinary/renal skills required, including pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
  • IV therapy and phlebotomy skills required, including port access, blood product administration, central line blood draws, PICC line management, and peripheral IV care
  • Medication administration experience required with heparin, insulin, and PCA
  • Respiratory care skills required, including CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy management, and non-invasive airway management
  • Experience with isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac management required
  • Charge experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level II experience preferred
  • SSN and date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Level II Trauma center with 372 staffed beds
  • Scrub colors limited to blue, black, or gray
  • Parking permit required at no cost, arranged during orientation
  • First-time travelers may be considered depending on experience
  • Previous permanent or PRN employees of the hospital system must be separated for at least 12 months before returning as a travel clinician
  • Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction for this specialty
  • RTO ideally limited to 5 days or fewer
  • Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
  • Travel pairs are not accepted
  • Housing can be difficult to secure in the area, so early planning is recommended
