Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for night shifts requiring at least 1.5 years of Med/Surg experience and MO or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit within a short-term acute care hospital with 68 staffed beds
• Patient population includes Medicine, Colorectal Surgery, Urology Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Orthopedic Recon (Hip/Knee Replacement/Revision), Bariatric Surgery, General Surgery, and Orthopedic Spine Surgery
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00-07:30
• Every 4th weekend rotation required
• No on-call requirements
• Will float between Medical Surgical units as needed to meet facility needs
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (MO or compact, must match permanent residence)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required by compliance deadline
• Minimum 1.5 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, and peripheral line care preferred
• Experience with blood product administration and colostomy/ileostomy care preferred
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE preferred
• Experience administering heparin, insulin, and PCA medications preferred
• Experience with surgical drains and total joint replacement care preferred

• Provide direct patient care to a diverse Med/Surg population including surgical and medical patients
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Pending license accepted at time of submission
• Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
• Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week
• Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period before requiring a 3-month break in service
• Permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Contract length is firm with no early cancellations to accept other BJC assignments
