Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Nurse specializing in Medical Surgical Floor care is sought for a facility located in Artesia, New Mexico. The role involves providing comprehensive patient care within a 26-bed unit, supporting clinical needs such as vitals, ADLs, patient transfers, and medication administration, including titration of drips. Candidates must have at least three years of Medical Surgical experience and the ability to interpret telemonitoring data.
Job Details:
- Shift: Nights (12-hour shifts) from 08/24/2026, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid BLS and ACLS certifications; minimum of 3 years of Medical Surgical (MS) experience, with proficiency in MS-Tele care.
- Preferred Qualifications: PCU/Stepdown experience, ability to manage drips such as insulin, amiodarone, and Levofed, and experience reading tele strips.
- Duties: Complete vital signs, ADLs, I/Os, patient transfers, transports, patient showers, blood glucose monitoring, and occasional titration of infusions.
- Additional Information:
- Unit staff includes nurses, CNA, and RTs who manage respiratory equipment, including continuous bipap/CPAP machines.
- The unit does not include ICU services; transfers to higher-level hospitals occur if necessary.
- The facility uses CPSI for charting and is progressing toward becoming a Level IV hospital.
- Nurses may be asked to float to other units, such as the ED, for sitter shifts, but are generally not required to float across units.
- Dress code is navy blue, with a 1-2 day orientation with a preceptor.
- No guaranteed block scheduling; flexibility is appreciated.
- No call, standby, or floating requirements, though occasional float to ED for specific shifts may occur.
- Holiday work may be required on a rotating basis.
