Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical position requiring NM or Compact RN licensure and weekend availability.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit in a hospital setting
• 1:6 patient ratio
• Day shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 AM-7:30 PM), with 36 or 48 hour options
• Weekend shifts required
• Floating required to like units within scope as needed, with brief unit orientation provided
• Epic charting system experience required

Requirements

• Active NM or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• 2 years of experience preferred
• Proficiency in IV therapy/phlebotomy, port access/management, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes, nasal cannula, oral suctioning, and oxygen administration
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube care and management
• Experience managing CVA patients
• Experience administering heparin, insulin, and PCA medications
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
• Experience in Med/Surg and MS/Tele settings
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
• Experience with surgical drains
• Experience with telemetry monitoring (on-unit and remote) and rapid response/code team protocols
• Experience with total joint replacement patient care

• First-time travelers accepted for this position
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
• Former staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
