Medical-Surgical Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Contract in Evansville, Indiana

Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Evansville, Indiana
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,890–$1,990
- Contract: 13 weeks, from November 2, 2026 through January 31, 2027
- Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Hours: 36 guaranteed hours per week; 48-hour contracts may be available upon request
- Unit: 41-bed medical-surgical unit
- Typical Patient Ratio: 1:4–5 on day shifts
- Weekend Requirement: Three weekends during each six-week schedule
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
- Call: No on-call or callback requirement
- Floating: First to float within skill set; occasional assignments to nearby affiliated campuses in Indiana or Kentucky may be required with advance notice
- Charting: Recent EPIC experience required, including completion of an EPIC checkoff class
- Orientation: 12 hours; guaranteed hours may vary during orientation
- Local Candidate Policy: Candidates residing within 40 miles may not be eligible
Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license with an active compact license
- At least 2 years of strong medical-surgical nursing experience in an inpatient setting
- At least 1 previous travel nursing assignment
- Trauma Level II experience
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification
- Current NIHSS certification
- Associate degree or nursing certificate
- Recent EPIC documentation experience
- Strong assessment, prioritization, communication, and critical-thinking skills
- Adaptability, resilience, professionalism, and a team-oriented approach
Medical-Surgical Travel RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to medical-surgical patients, including post-surgical patients and those with UTI, sepsis, high fall risk, COPD, and CHF diagnoses
- Perform focused and comprehensive patient assessments, identify changes in condition, and escalate concerns appropriately
- Manage remote telemetry, chest tubes, NG and PEG tubes, straight catheterization, Foley catheters, and ostomies
- Administer and monitor heparin infusions, blood and blood products, and PCA therapy according to clinical protocols
- Provide care for patients with tracheostomies and monitor respiratory status
- Use EPIC electronic health record software to accurately document assessments, interventions, outcomes, and care plans
- Collaborate with providers, nursing colleagues, CNAs, patients, and families to support safe, high-quality patient care
- Float within the nurse's competency area and adapt effectively to changing unit needs
- Support a positive learning environment, including precepting students or newly hired staff when assigned
