  • Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

  • Weekend Requirement: Three weekends during each six-week schedule
  • Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
  • Unit: 44-bed orthopedic, neurological, and trauma care environment
  • Floating: May float within the nurse's skill set, including to nearby affiliated campuses, with advance notice when cross-campus coverage is needed

Travel Nurse Job Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure with an active compact license
  • At least 2 years of recent RN experience, including at least 1 year in orthopedic, neurological, or trauma nursing
  • At least 1 completed travel nursing assignment
  • Level II trauma experience
  • Associate degree in nursing or equivalent nursing education
  • Current AHA BLS certification
  • Current NIHSS certification
  • Recent EPIC electronic health record documentation experience and willingness to complete a charting checkoff
  • Ability to successfully complete a telemetry assessment
  • Strong clinical judgment, patient assessment skills, adaptability, resilience, and teamwork

Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with orthopedic injuries, neurological conditions, spine and rib fractures, and other trauma-related diagnoses.
  • Perform thorough neurological assessments and promptly identify changes in patient condition.
  • Care for patients following procedures involving the neck, back, spine, hips, and femur.
  • Interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKG findings and communicate significant changes appropriately.
  • Perform peripheral IV insertion and manage patients requiring complex medical-surgical interventions.
  • Assist with log rolling, back braces, immobilizers, traction, pin-site care, and other mobility or orthopedic support devices.
  • Manage drains, chest tubes, PEG and NG tubes, wound care treatments, wound vacs, and specialty therapies as assigned.
  • Administer and monitor prescribed infusions and medications, including heparin, furosemide, and pantoprazole drips when applicable.
  • Collaborate with providers, therapy teams, nursing colleagues, patients, and families to promote safe, effective care.
  • Maintain accurate EPIC documentation and contribute to a positive, patient-focused team environment.
