Travel Nursing Job Details

- Healthcare Setting: 23-bed observation medical-surgical unit
- Location: Evansville, Indiana
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,890–$1,990
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Nursing Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 6:30 AM–7:00 PM
- Contract: 13 weeks, October 5, 2026–January 3, 2027
- Weekend Requirement: Three weekends during each six-week schedule
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
- Call Requirement: No call or callback requirement
- Float Requirement: First to float within the nurse’s skill set, including nearby affiliated campuses as needed
- Local Candidate Policy: Candidates must reside outside a 40-mile radius
Travel Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; compact nursing license required
- Associate degree or nursing certificate
- Minimum of 2 years of strong medical-surgical nursing experience
- At least 1 previous travel nursing assignment
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
- Current NIHSS certification
- Recent EPIC electronic health record (EHR) charting experience; completion of an EPIC checkoff class may be required
- Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to work rotating weekends and holidays and adapt to cross-campus float assignments
Medical-Surgical Observation RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to observation and medical-surgical patients throughout 12-hour day shifts
- Care for patients with cardiac concerns, chest pain, post-cardiac catheterization needs, CVA/TIA, hypotension, syncope, shortness of breath, and post-surgical conditions
- Manage patients with gastrointestinal and urologic conditions, acute kidney injury, cellulitis, and detoxification or CIWA needs
- Perform focused neurological assessments, NIHSS evaluations, and dysphagia screenings
- Provide cardiac catheterization recovery care, including femoral access and TR band management
- Initiate and titrate therapies such as heparin and insulin infusions according to policy and scope of practice
- Perform and document medication administration, blood product administration, drain care, urinary catheter care, straight catheterization, and NG tube insertion
- Monitor patient responses, identify changes in condition, and escalate concerns promptly
- Document accurately in EPIC while collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Support a positive learning environment by precepting students or new team members when assigned
