Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13 Weeks | 12-Hour Night Shifts (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM) | Expected 36 hours/week (48-hour contracts may be available upon request)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care on a 44-bed Ortho/Neuro/Trauma unit serving trauma, orthopedic (hip/femur fractures), and neurological (spine, neck, back, rib fractures) patient populations
  • Perform strong neurological assessments, log rolling, and application of assistive devices including back braces and immobilizers
  • Interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKGs; travelers may be required to pass a telemetry test (Step-Down experience required for tele testing)
  • Perform PIV insertion and maintain accurate, timely documentation using Epic EMR (checkoff class required)
  • Float within skillset to sister campuses with a minimum of 2-hour notice for cross-campus floats; mid-shift float within the same campus is also possible
  • Adhere to weekend and holiday rotation requirements; as a teaching facility, may assist with precepting students and new hires

Required Qualifications

  • Active, current Compact RN license required
  • AHA BLS certification required
  • NIHSS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 full year in ortho, neuro, or trauma
  • Minimum 1 prior travel assignment completed
  • Trauma Level II experience required
  • Recent Epic EMR experience required
  • Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience with chest tube and indwelling drain management, drip management (heparin, Lasix, Protonix), and epidural management
  • Familiarity with PEGs/NGs, Buck's traction, pin site care, On-Q management, and wound care including wound vacs and packing
  • CIWA protocol and behavioral health experience
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
