Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring at least 1 year of experience and ACLS certification at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit specializing in Cystic Fibrosis, lung transplant, and medicine patients, with standard medicine overflow
• Patient ratios of 1:3-5 with primary care nursing model
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30)
• Option to sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within service line to meet facility needs
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic charting system
• 1,266 staffed bed facility

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Epic charting experience required
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy and central line blood draws required
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs preferred
• Respiratory care experience with High Flow Nasal Cannula and Nasal Cannula required
• Experience with PCA medications and isolation precautions/PPE

Additional Information

• Provide primary care nursing to a specialized patient population including Cystic Fibrosis, lung transplant, and medicine patients
• Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with Level I Trauma Center status
• Navy blue scrub color required
• No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside at least 75 miles from the facility
• Returning BJC permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Standard travelers may stay up to 18 months, followed by a required 3-month break in service
• Facial hair must allow for proper respirator fit testing or must be shaved
