Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor (MS) registered nurse position in an acute care setting. This role involves providing patient care on a busy medical surgical unit with a focus on conditions such as CHF, COPD, cellulitis, and pneumonia. The position requires managing multiple patients and collaborating with a charge nurse to ensure quality care delivery, with scheduled rotating shifts and availability on weekends and holidays as needed.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour day/night rotating shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid BLS (American Heart Association) certification, NIHSS certification; 2 years of recent experience on a medical surgical floor.
- Patient Population: Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, cellulitis, R/O, chole, appendicitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, and AKI.
- Unit Notes:
- Bed capacity of 30 with ratios up to 1:7; RN must be comfortable with this ratio.
- One charge RN on the unit to oversee patients and assignments.
- Nurse aides (PCTs) are available on the unit.
- No ventilators; intermittent BIPAP machine use only.
- Telemonitoring available, watched remotely by monitor technicians.
- Transitioning to Qgenda scheduling system.
- Floating may be required as needed based on census; external traveler first to float.
- Navy blue scrubs required.
- No trauma level designation.
- Charting system used is EPIC.
- Additional Information:
- All submissions must include a copy of the candidate's unexpired drivers license.
- Licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission.
- All candidates must adhere to a 50-mile radius rule, with a maximum of 1 charge RN per shift.
- External travel nurses are considered first for floating due to float requirements.
- No standby or call requirement for this position.
