Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position on a secured, at-risk patient unit requiring 2+ years of experience and a MO or compact RN license.

Details

  • 24-bed max capacity Medical Surgical unit focused on at-risk patients
  • Secured unit featuring whole-unit video monitoring, ligature alarms, anti-barricade doors, and badge-secured entrance
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Every other weekend required, with potential for 36 or 48 hours/week discussed at interview
  • 1:5 patient ratio
  • Cerner charting preferred but not required
  • Mandatory floating, including to Med/Surg/Tele units and potentially as a Patient Observer/Sitter

Requirements

  • Active MO or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS certification required
  • CPI certification preferred, required for Behavioral Health RNs (can be pending at start and completed onsite)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management
  • Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube, and tracheostomy management preferred
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and dysrhythmia management preferred
  • Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE knowledge required
  • Must be able to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs

Additional Information

  • Provide medical-surgical nursing care to an at-risk patient population in a secured unit environment
  • Work in a healthcare facility operating 24/7/365 with exposure to contagious illnesses
  • Rotating shifts, holiday coverage, and work during inclement weather required
  • Must be able to work at least 50% of holidays occurring during the contract
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Maximum RTO of 10 days, with none allowed during the first week due to orientation
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible to apply
  • Candidates residing 51-74 miles away may be considered at a local rate
