Job Summary:
The Medical Surgical (MS) specialty position is located in Hastings, Nebraska. This bedside nursing role involves working on a 30-bed unit with a patient census averaging 20. The position offers night shifts and requires adaptable staffing to provide quality care for patients with conditions such as dementia, post-surgical needs, influenza, pneumonia, failure to thrive, cancer, and COVID-19. The successful candidate will support patient care through clinical expertise and collaborative teamwork.
Job Details:
- Location: Hastings, Nebraska
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, with every other weekend work and potential for additional weekend or holiday shifts based on operational needs.
- Required Qualifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience; Nebraska nursing license or eligibility; experience with chest tubes (preferred), pain management, TPN, CBI, wounds; ability to work in a fast-paced acute care setting.
- Preferred Qualifications: Charge nurse experience; experience with trauma, telemetry monitoring; prior float or coverage experience to PCU or low acuity units.
- Additional Information:
- Nurse aides are present on the unit with a ratio of 2-3 per shift.
- RT equipment available includes CPAP with respiratory therapist support.
- Telemetry monitors are present on the floor, with reading performed by monitor technicians.
- The unit employs a solid color dress code (no patterns or designs).
- Orientation includes two days of departmental training and one day on the floor.
- No call or standby requirements; floating to overflow or low-acuity units may be necessary during low census periods.
- The start date for this assignment is 08/24/2026.
- Submission of a valid license is required for consideration.
