Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position requiring 2+ years of experience and float coverage across multiple campus locations.

Details

  • Medical Surgical unit within a hospital system spanning four campus locations (Bend, Redmond, Prineville, and Madras)
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) with adjusted shift times at Prineville (1800-0630) and Madras (1745-0615)
  • Required to float to all North Campus locations including Redmond, Prineville, and Madras
  • May float to any Med/Surg unit within the system, serve as a 1:1 observer in any clinical department, or care for boarding Med/Surg patients in the ED
  • Weekend shifts required to equal one per week across the contract, which may be every other weekend or spread throughout
  • No scheduled on-call shifts, though standby status may be required
  • Cares for patients with COPD, stroke, total joint replacement, sepsis, colorectal surgery, bariatric surgery, pneumonia, trauma, altered mental status, renal failure, bowel obstruction, oncology, and withdrawal
  • Epic EMR experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Standard or Compact) currently in hand
  • OR RN license required
  • Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS); NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I and teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, blood product administration, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and management of dysrhythmias
  • Experience with oncology, gastrointestinal, respiratory, genitourinary/renal, and neurological/psychiatric patient populations preferred
  • Travel experience required, though candidates with 3-5 years of experience may be considered as first-time travelers

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care across a wide range of Med/Surg diagnoses and post-surgical conditions
  • Facility includes a Level 2 trauma center (Bend), a Level 4 trauma center (Redmond), and two critical access hospitals (Madras and Prineville)
  • Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility, with proof of address required for consideration
  • RTO requests limited to 7 days
  • First-time travelers considered only with 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Orientation includes annual facility modules that vary by specialty
