Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor Registered Nurse (RN) in a high-volume, multi-specialty unit. This position involves providing patient care across a variety of surgical and medical diagnoses, including bariatric, urology, colorectal, vascular, gynecological, plastic, and medical patients. The role requires proficiency in managing central lines, NG tubes, ostomies, drains, and occasionally CBIs and foley management.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with weekends as needed; shifts are scheduled to promote work/life balance, typically three in a row.
  • Required Qualifications: BLS certification; minimum of 2 years of Medical Surgical experience; proficiency with central lines, NG tube management, ostomies, drain management, professional communication; experience with CBIs and foley management preferred.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with tele monitoring and reading strips; experience with high flow and bipap equipment; familiarity with complex surgical procedures such as Whipple and Pectus surgeries.
  • Float: Floating between local hospitals to similar medical-surgical units is required; travelers are prioritized for float coverage.
  • Additional Information: The unit supports a patient ratio of approximately 1:4-5 based on acuity, with CNA coverage at a ratio of about 1:8-10. The team includes unit leadership and nurse managers providing support, with on-call leadership coverage for nights and weekends. Orientation includes one unit-specific shift plus a didactic review session with an educator.
