Travel Nursing Job Details

- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,660–$1,750
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour nights, 6:45 p.m. – 7:15 a.m.
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:6
- Scheduling: Block scheduling; every other weekend required
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Charting and Unit Systems: Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR
- Additional Expectations: Holiday availability and flexibility to float within or near the assigned facility
Medical-Surgical Travel RN Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state; pending license may be considered for submission
- At least 2 years of Registered Nurse experience in an acute-care setting
- Recent Neuro or Medical-Surgical nursing experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Experience caring for patients with cerebrovascular accidents and other neurological conditions
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation experience
- Proficiency with IV initiation and maintenance, peripheral line care, isolation precautions, nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management
- Successful completion of required EKG testing before the start date
- Willingness to support emergency, disaster, or crisis-response staffing needs when required
Neuro Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with general medical and neurological diagnoses
- Assess patients, identify changes in condition, and promptly communicate concerns to the interdisciplinary care team
- Monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias while escalating significant findings appropriately
- Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with established standards of care
- Manage peripheral IVs, initiate IV access, and perform routine line care
- Apply appropriate isolation precautions and personal protective equipment
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge planning
- Document care accurately in Epic and communicate effectively using SBAR
- Collaborate with providers, support services, and other members of the care team to promote positive patient outcomes
- Float to nearby units as needed and maintain flexibility during changing census or staffing demands
