Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift assignment requiring at least 1 year of experience and Epic charting proficiency.

Details

  • General Medical Surgical unit in a hospital setting
  • Adult to geriatric patient population
  • Patient ratio of 1:6
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
  • 14-week assignment length
  • Works every other weekend unless otherwise specified
  • Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
  • Uses Epic EMR, Pyxis, and SBAR communication systems

Requirements

  • Active GA or Compact RN license required
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Prior charge experience preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
  • Experience with chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac) preferred
  • Experience with continuous bladder irrigation and renal failure care preferred
  • Experience with PCA and Heparin administration preferred
  • Skilled in wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
  • MS/Tele and surgical drain experience preferred
  • Experience with substance withdrawal care preferred
  • Knowledge of rapid response and code team protocols

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care to adult and geriatric Med/Surg patients including IV therapy, wound care, and respiratory support
  • Participate in rapid response and code team activations as needed
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, all RTO must be finalized prior to submission
  • No RTO can be requested during the first week of the assignment
  • If one or two major holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day) fall during the assignment, no holiday RTO can be requested
  • If three major holidays occur during the assignment, one holiday RTO request may be considered
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Full compliance required prior to start; late compliance may result in a two-week delay due to biweekly orientation scheduling
  • Former Piedmont perm, per diem, or FCSS employees must be separated from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
