Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN with prior travel experience for a 13-bed behavioral health/medical unit requiring an active VA or Compact RN license and EPIC experience.

Details

• 12-bed specialized inpatient unit caring for adult patients with complex medical conditions, co-occurring behavioral health needs, and substance use disorders
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 6:45pm-7:15am
• 1:6 patient ratios
• Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule block
• Floating required within skillset
• May be required to work as charge nurse and to precept
• EPIC charting system experience required

Requirements

• Active Virginia State or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted only for single-state, non-compact candidates)
• BLS certification required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Minimum 1 year of charge experience required
• Proficient in Med/Surg care with experience using Rapid Response/Code teams
• Skilled in peripheral line care/management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration and tanks, and isolation precautions/PPE

• Multidisciplinary team approach involving physicians, nurses, therapists, case managers, and addiction specialists
• Focus on assessment, stabilization, treatment, medication management, behavioral support, and discharge planning for patients with substance withdrawal, behavioral challenges, and mental health concerns
• Located within a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated teaching hospital
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• First-time travelers will not be considered
• Local candidates accepted per facility radius rule
• Previous employees (per diem or permanent) must have a minimum one-year separation before returning as a traveler
• Facility does not permit travelers to return after having worked 365 total days on assignment, regardless of separation period
• All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront at time of application
