Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg position requiring an Alabama or compact RN license, with night shift availability and experience in IV therapy, wound care, and adult/geriatric patient populations.

Details

  • Work setting is a community hospital Med/Surg unit
  • Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6
  • Night shift position with every other weekend (EOW) requirement
  • Schedule options include 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts
  • Floating to other units is required
  • Occasional charge nurse duties may be assigned as needed
  • Charting system: Paragon (preferred)
  • Level II Trauma experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active Alabama (AL) or compact RN license required; pending license is acceptable
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • Current fit test required
  • NIHSS certification preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg RN experience required
  • Proficiency in IV starts and IV therapy required
  • Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac required
  • Blood product administration experience required
  • Travel nursing experience preferred
  • 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include wound care, wound vac management, and isolation precaution protocols
  • Preferred skills include peripheral line care, PICC line management, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, and administration of heparin, insulin, and PCA
  • Prior permanent employees of this facility are not eligible for this travel assignment
  • Candidates may request a maximum of 7 days of RTO for the duration of the assignment
  • Local candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are accepted
  • Hospital housing is available — shared units with private bedrooms and shared common spaces; male and female units are separate; no dogs allowed; travelers coordinate directly with the facility
