Travel Nursing Job Details

- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:6
- Charting System: Epic electronic medical record (EMR)
- Unit Volume: Approximately 8 patients daily; 10-bed unit
Medical-Surgical Travel RN Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand at the time of submission; state or compact licensure accepted
- At least 1 year of recent inpatient medical-surgical nursing experience
- Recent Epic experience within the past 6 months
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Ability to safely manage an adult and geriatric patient assignment of approximately 1:6
- Comfort providing care to adult and geriatric patients
- Willingness to float to units of equal or lesser acuity as needed
- Applicants must reside outside the applicable 50-mile local radius
Travel RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric medical-surgical patients during overnight shifts
- Assess patients, develop and update nursing care plans, administer medications, and evaluate responses to treatment
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the Epic EMR
- Apply isolation precautions and follow appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) practices
- Provide peripheral line care and management
- Deliver oxygen therapy, including nasal cannula support, and assist with non-invasive airway management
- Communicate effectively with providers and interdisciplinary partners, including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, social services, and rapid response teams
- Promote patient safety, participate in clinical handoffs, and support high-quality patient care throughout the travel nursing assignment
