Travel Registered Nurse (RN) needed in Albany, Georgia, for a 13-week Medical-Surgical/Oncology assignment caring for complex and oncology patients.

• Assignment Length: 13 weeks, with 8- or 17-week options available
• Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts, 6:45 a.m.–7:15 p.m.
• Hours: Choose between 36 or 48 hours per week; hours are not guaranteed during orientation
• Orientation: 12 hours; the first week of orientation will be scheduled on day shift
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:6 for Registered Nurses
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 of 3 holidays
• Call: Rare call-back responsibilities
• Uniform: Caribbean blue or white

Travel Medical-Surgical/Oncology RN Requirements

• Active Georgia or compact Registered Nurse license
• Associate degree or nursing certificate required; bachelor’s degree preferred
• At least 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical/Oncology nursing experience
• Completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment required
• Current chemotherapy certification required
• AHA BLS certification required
• AHA NIHSS certification required
• AHA ACLS certification highly preferred
• Current experience with Meditech Expanse required
• Demonstrated competency with peripheral IV insertion, sickle cell management, and tracheostomy care
• Ability to manage high-acuity pain needs, including PCA pumps and frequent reassessment of pain interventions

Medical-Surgical/Oncology RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to Medical-Surgical and Oncology patients in an inpatient setting.
• Care for patients receiving active chemotherapy and patients with complex medical conditions, including sickle cell disease.
• Administer medications, chemotherapy treatments, IV therapies, and pain-management interventions according to established standards.
• Operate PCA pumps, monitor patient response, and promptly escalate barriers to effective pain control.
• Perform focused and comprehensive assessments, identify changes in condition, and communicate concerns to the interdisciplinary care team.
• Provide tracheostomy care and management while maintaining airway safety.
• Insert and maintain peripheral IVs and monitor access sites for complications.
• Float as needed to acute-care units, cardiac care areas, or emergency patient-hold assignments based on clinical needs.
• Deliver safe, compassionate, patient-centered care while collaborating with nursing assistants and other members of the care team.
