Travel Nursing Job Details

Travel Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Georgia
• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
• At least 1 completed travel nursing assignment
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current American Heart Association National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Recent acute care experience caring for medical-surgical patients and monitoring telemetry
• Meditech electronic medical record experience preferred, but not required
• Must meet the assignment's 75-mile travel-radius requirement based on the address listed on the traveler's driver's license

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients in an acute care environment.
• Assess patients, develop and implement individualized nursing care plans, administer medications, and evaluate patient outcomes.
• Manage an expected patient assignment ratio of approximately 1:5, with the possibility of 1:6.
• Monitor patients requiring telemetry and promptly recognize, document, and communicate changes in condition.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the Meditech electronic medical record.
• Collaborate with providers, nursing colleagues, certified nursing assistants, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Float as needed to acute care and cardiac units, including caring for medical patients or acute care patients in holds.
• Support safe transitions of care, patient education, and discharge planning.
• Participate in weekend and holiday coverage according to the unit schedule.
