• Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, approximately 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.

• Unit: Acute-care medical-surgical unit with approximately 44 beds
• Patient Ratios: Typically 1:5, with the possibility of 1:6
• Charting: MEDITECH experience preferred but not required
• Orientation: One week of general orientation, including electronic medical record training, plus two unit-specific orientation days
• Dress Code: Caribbean blue scrubs

Med/Surg Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Georgia
• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
• At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Experience caring for acute-care patient populations and monitoring telemetry
• Ability to meet the facility’s 75-mile travel eligibility requirement based on the address listed on the traveler’s driver’s license
• Flexibility to float to other acute-care and cardiac units as needed

Medical-Surgical Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients in an acute-care setting
• Perform comprehensive assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient progress
• Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions
• Recognize changes in patient condition and communicate promptly with providers and the interdisciplinary care team
• Monitor patients requiring telemetry and respond appropriately to clinical changes
• Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care plans accurately in MEDITECH
• Collaborate with nursing assistants, providers, therapy teams, and other healthcare professionals to support quality outcomes
• Provide patient and family education related to diagnoses, medications, treatments, and discharge planning
• Float to acute-care or cardiac units when needed and care for medical patients or acute-care holds
