Job Summary:
The Medical Surgical Orthopedic Floor Nurse position is based in Martinsburg, West Virginia. This role involves providing high-quality patient care on a unit that specializes in orthopedic and surgical patient care. The position features a rotating shift schedule, offering a dynamic work environment supporting patient recovery and well-being.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 48 hours per week, operating on a rotating schedule.
- Required Qualifications: Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) provided by the American Heart Association (AHA); minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience; West Virginia nursing license or eligibility; willing to wait for license submission.
- Preferred Qualifications: NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Float: Float rotation may be required to other Medical Surgical units, excluding Emergency Department and Behavioral Health units.
- Additional Information:
- Unit includes 21 beds (7 private and 7 semi-private rooms).
- Nurse-patient ratios range from 1:5 to 1:6, typically 1:5 for day shifts.
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system used is EPIC.
- Charge Nurse duties are performed 24/7, with support for admissions and discharges.
- Uniforms include navy blue or white jackets, with white or navy undershirts.
- Hair must be natural color; tattoos must be covered if excessive or distasteful.
- Monitored remotely via Tele.
- Basic arrhythmia knowledge required for rhythm interpretation; no formal rhythm strip reading required.
- IV medications include Heparin and Protonix, without titration.
- Ventilators on site include Bipap, Cpap, and High Flow.
- In-house healthcare support includes hospitalists 24/7, in-house RT and pharmacy.
- Shifts are 12 hours (7 AM - 7:30 PM or 7 PM - 7:30 AM), with flexibility for 8-hour shifts if preferred.
- Use Kronos for schedule requests, submitted at least two weeks in advance for four-week blocks.
- Candidate must demonstrate excellent attendance.
- Attendance will be verified with previous management if contacted.
