Job Summary
Registered Nurse, Medical Surgical Orthopedic Floor, working in an acute care setting on a 43-bed orthopedic unit. The position provides care for medical-surgical, postoperative orthopedic, and trauma patients with fractures while supporting safe patient outcomes through collaborative nursing practice.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: Active Illinois license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA); at least 2 years of clinical experience; experience with postoperative surgical care and general medical-surgical care.
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week; every other weekend requirement, with weekend shifts scheduled Friday and Saturday nights.
- Clinical Responsibilities: Care for a wide variety of medical-surgical, postoperative orthopedic, and trauma patients with fractures; manage patient assignments with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:56 on night shifts; collaborate with patient care technicians and the charge nurse; monitor patients receiving continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and heated high-flow therapy and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
- Additional Information: The unit provides care in a Level I trauma setting. Travel nurses may occasionally float to other medical-surgical floors. Professional appearance is required, and tattoos and piercings must be covered. A negative drug screen is required.
