Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Oncology RN for a night shift travel contract requiring 2 years of Med/Surg/Tele experience and a TN or compact RN license.

Details

  • Medical Surgical Oncology unit within a hospital setting
  • Patient ratio of 1:7
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 or 4x12 hours, 18:30-7:00)
  • 36/36, 36/48, and 48/48 scheduling options available
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating to other units as needed
  • Travelers do not administer chemotherapy
  • Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

  • Active TN or compact RN license required
  • AHA BLS certification required (AHA is the only accepted certifying body)
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
  • Med/Surg/Tele experience required
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Skills include IV therapy/phlebotomy, port access/management, PICC line management, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, insulin and heparin administration, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions/PPE

Additional Information

  • Contract RN team members are expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside direct patient care
  • General orientation begins on Sundays with online CBL modules
  • Must reside at least 100 miles from the facility with no local candidates accepted
  • EKG competency testing required within 72 hours of signing, with up to two attempts allowed
  • Drug testing must be completed 12-14 calendar days prior to start
  • Facial hair must be trimmed or removed to meet CDC fit testing guidelines
  • First-time travelers accepted
